I hate Pep Boys.
Last year my mom brought her car there ( mine now ) to get it inspected. When they were done they decided they were going to wipe the car down and make it look all nice and pretty. Only they used a rag that had paint stripper on it.
So I bring my car into them today to get an inspection sticker. They call me two hours later and inform me that my car failed. The right front strut was leaking and my passanger side taillight was cracked. The guy told me on the phone that they would replace the struts for $426. That included parts, labor, and the car inspection. I said okay.
I go to pick up my car and there is a guy at the desk that doesn't look all together. He looks at my paper, and procedes to tell me that "the car wasn't inspected and that I wasn't charged for it."
Well if my car wasn't inspected then why does it say failed inspection on the paper? The answer I was met with, was just a blank stare.
So I then asked how much the whole thing came up to, and he said $407. So I really wasn't charged for the inspection. But I was still a little confused, so I asked him, well why would the guy on the phone say that if I come back in, within 10 days, the inspection sticker would be free? Again, all I got was a blank stare. Rather than push it any further I let it drop. He tells me i'm all set.
At this point i'm starting to get upset. He tells me to have a nice day and goes to take another customer. So I just stood there. A few seconds later he looks at me, and asks if there is a problem. I told him that I wouldn't get very far without my keys. So he went into his draw and handed me a car key which wasn't mine. I tell him that it isn't mine and he starts getting an attitude with me. He finally asks me what kind of car it is, and then hands me MY car key. I ask him if my regestration is in my car and he tells me yes.
I go outside, look in my car, and just as I suspected...my regestration was no where to be found.
I go back inside and tell the guy. He makes me look like the idiot and asks me if I looked IN the car, in the glove box, on the floor. He actually thought I came back in for the sake of starting an arguement. Conviently the two guys that were working on my car already went home. So I asked to speak with the manager, and he too had went home. So then I asked if he had their phone numbers. But why would I think he would actually have them. He tells me that he doesn't have them and tells me to go talk to another guy. The other guy, who was much nicer actually went and looked through all the paper work in search for my regestration and yet still couldn't find it. So he told me to come back in tomorrow morning, and that if they couldn't find it they would pay for me to get another one.
After that, I stopped at the bookstore and bought The Da Vinci Code.
