Lightning!
Well, something happened today...one of the craziest thunderstorms I've seen. We noticed the lightning flashes first, and went outside to watch. Utter insanity--there was literally constant flashes occurring off to the east (most of our storms blow in from that direction, from New Mexico) and during the flashes, we could see the approaching wall of rain headed right for us! We're talking bright, angry patch of red on the doppler here.
The rain was heavy but brief, and we went outside to watch the lightning again afterwards. Most of it wasn't actually hitting the ground, but it was still going constantly for at least half an hour. Another wave rolled in, this one downpouring more rain than has probably fallen all summer in previous years here!
It seems that everything's bigger Out West--even the thunderstorms...
