Happy Holidays! and Time Wasters for the Ill

Dec 25, 2010 16:44

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas/whatever you celebrate and a wonderful New Year full of fun and happiness.

I've been sick most of December (not the lurgy, as previously reported. Turns out it was a sinus infection. And bronchitis. And to top it off, pink eye!). I went to the midnight release party for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, hopped up on Biaxin and cough syrup with codeine. But I got a Cataclysm poster, and won a 12" square Cataclysm display box during the trivia contest.

Here's some of the ways I've been amusing myself while I was sick:

- Leveled to 85 on my Troll Shaman (Terynripp), 83 on my Orc Death Knight (Terynreap), 16 on my brand new baby Goblin Hunter (Teryntinker). It took me a little over a week to get Ripp, my main, to 85; my brother did it in under 28 hours...yes, straight through. He's insane. He's also leveling his third toon to 85 as I write.

- Watched Sherlock BBC pilot on Blu-Ray. Read John W's blog and Sherlock's site (also Molly Hooper's and Connie Prince's).

- Did some YouTube surfing. Started out looking for Richard Ayoade clips (in a Suggestions list full of IT Crowd and Mighty Boosh, why was there a Kate Bush link to the red dress version of Wuthering Heights?). Fun Fact: Richard used to be in Footlights with John Oliver: "He and Footlights vice-president John Oliver wrote two pantomimes together: Sleeping Beauty, and Grimm Fairy Tales." I really would love to see these.

- ...ended up somehow finding a couple of fun Joseph Gordon-Levitt videos where he did acoustic versions of "Bad Romance" and "Natural Woman". He's no Aretha, but he sure seemed to be having a good time. I miss 3rd Rock from the Sun.  Then tracked down some Sneaker Pimps videos on Youtube. Oh, Chris Corner!  Then it was off to watch some Katamari Damacy videos (hence the King of All Cosmos icon), 'cos I wanted to play, but my blurry eye wouldn't let me.

- Copied a lot of Elitist Jerks theorycrafting info to my Kindle about all my various classes so I could play WoW without being totally fail. Read loads of WoW information. If you want the down and dirty details of how to play your class, EJ are the source. I just skip all the scary math.

- Napping. Lots and lots of napping at random times.

- Stared at the 25 boxes of books that I have to sort on the empty bookshelves in the spare room.

- Watched the copy of "HIV: The Musical" on my "Journey of the Childmen" DVD. So focussed on Julian being in it, failed to remember that it starred Martin Freeman. Which made me want to rewatch an episode of Sherlock.

- Got a pet fossilized raptor in WoW for working on the new Archaeology profession. The Archaeology trainer for the Horde is a Blood Elf named Belloc. Nyuk, nyuk.

- Tried to get a Sim turned into a vampire. Took forever. Now I'm going to see how long it takes a vampire to starve to death.

- Played more of Fallout: New Vegas. Love it a lot, but the need to get more toons to 85 is cutting into my FNV time. Someday, I will make an evil character, and do nothing nice for nobody!

So, lots of time-wasting, and little else this month. Our Christmas so far has been much more quiet than usual, but nice. And I once again send out lots of wishes for joyous holidays to all of you. :)

ETA: Buffy marathon on the Chiller Channel last night! It was the last several eps of season three, so I had to stay up until the end. Mayor Wilkins FTW!!!

And, yeah, it's actually snowing here. And sticking a bit! There are dire predictions for loooots of snow, and the airports are freaking out, according to C. So, yay?
