Okay--so I don't usually put actual CONTENT here. I thought I would tonight ;)
Please, for the love of God--will someone ask McCain to stop saying "my friend(s)" to us over and over. He's NOT my friend--and I HOPE he will NOT be my President, either. It's bad enough he's my Senator (yes--I live in AZ!) One thing he did do that was working for him that I wish Obama had been doing was acknowledging the questioner by name/acknowledging appreciation for the question (even going so far as to touch the military guy). What was NOT working for him--that seething demeanor--what's he so durn pissed about? That he has to spend his time debating Obama?? And--sorry to say--but the man looks OLD (I mean he IS old--but you could really see it tonight.) OH! And he was invoking patriotism WAYYY too much for my taste. "America is great--blah blah blah" He's trying to perhaps put across the idea that true flag-wavin', die-hard, whatever-else Americans can only be expected to vote Republican, or what? I dunno--I'd have to watch it again (which I won't be doing) to form more coherent thoughts on that one--but I kept feeling the tug on those "patriot" heart strings, and feeling it was a put-on.
Obama--less of the stuttering-type thing I've been noticing so much of when he talks--good! It makes him seem less-than-confident when he does that--I'm glad it was less noticeable tonight. I love how he just smiles when McCain is in attack mode toward him (oh John--your ranting is sooo amusing ;). He just carries himself so well--he is getting better and better at conveying that quiet confidence thing that is so appealing. I thought he did really well tonight. I like how he stands his ground on healthcare, especially. Very nice to hear him SAY that it should be a RIGHT for us all.
The issues--I have sided with Obama's seemingly logical and well thought out take on most issues the whole time. Nobody said anything to dissuade me of that position tonight. I wish someone would ask them something I don't already more-or-less KNOW their positions on--wouldn't it be interesting to catch them off guard? That last question was very good (it had that catching-off-guard potential)--and I think McCain kinda copied Obama's answer in a way. *shrugs* I think they both avoided the second half of the question, tho--which was a shame.
Anyhow--I am for Obama--so I think that tends to skew me into thinking he won--but, I think his demeanor is so much better than McCain's, and that gives him an edge in my mind. They both stated their own positions on the issues well--I think that part was more of a tie. But an overall Obama win, to me.
