You may have guessed from the number of non-native-English authors for whom I have betaed and translated that I have an interest in languages. In connection with that interest, I have stumbled across a handy tool for people who are learning Chinese. It's called Clavis Sinica. Here is the URL --

It handles both traditional and simplified characters, which is important to me. A Taiwanese singer whom I enjoy publishes his song lyrics using traditional characters, but I have friends in mainland China where simplified characters are the norm. So I need to recognize both versions of the writing system. Clavis Sinica also considers characters in context. It picks up combinations of characters that taken together mean something different from their separate meanings. I don't recall any authors in this fandom who needed translation from Chinese to English, but you never know. :-)
