Happy Thanksgiving!

For those of you who are celebrating Thanksgiving this week, I hope it's a happy holiday with lots of food and family to love. For those of you who aren't taking part in this occasion, just know that I'm thankful to have you for a friend. I'm going to  spend Thursday (Thanksgiving itself) with Dan and Lauren at their house. Lauren's parents will also be there. If they arrive early enough on Wednesday evening, we'll all also have dinner together then.

It's gotten cold here -- well, as cold as it gets in North Carolina. It's hitting the freezing mark overnight and only getting up in the 50's during the day. I know, I know, for some of you, that's a balmy spring day... Anyway I got out my coats and hats and have been wearing them when I got out for walks. I've also been going to my new gym, which I'm enjoying. I didn't realize how much it meant to me to have a full gym to exercise in. I attended my first class today. There are quite a few offered each week day, 30 minutes each. You can sign up for more than one, back to back, and they are limited to 5 participants. So you get lots of personal attention. I only signed up for one today, which was just as well. I was pretty tired after the first half hour. I'll sign up for more on other days.

I've been buying this and that for my house. It's been going on ever since I moved in. In some ways, it seems ridiculous, as I had so much stuff in my prior house. I had to get rid of tons of items. But of course I want new things that fit the exact purpose and size in the new place. Here are a couple of recent purchases.

Two additional cabinets for my kitchen. There's very little storage in my current kitchen, at least compared to what I've been used to. We had a big house with a huge kitchen and pantry area in High Point. Although I got rid of a huge amount of kitchen items, ranging from pots to dishes to glassware to cookbooks, not to mention whole shelves full of food, I still had too much when I got here.  Many things ended up in the garage, so adding storage space to an empty and rather useless part of the kitchen made a lot of sense. One new cabinet:

Here's the second cabinet, which is a bit taller, in that it needed to fit exactly under the kitchen counter. I was very pleased at how well it slid into place! I counted up the total storage space I had at the old place versus the new one, and found that I had twelve times the cabinet space before. No wonder my new place seemed very confined! It's not a bad kitchen at all, nicely decorated with lovely counter tops and new appliances. Just needed more storage. I think this is enough now. I'll need to reorganize things again, now that I've got the space.

I went to a vintage market on Sunday with a friend. We had fun poking around all the vendors' areas, and I bought this old glass clock for my bathroom. The actual clock mechanism has been replaced with a new one, battery powered. The pottery behind it is more from my Seagrove collection. I brought just about all of that with me, as I love it so.

Well, things aren't all that exciting around here, but that's what's happening. What's going on with you?
