Well, I had been thinking about learning to knit, since I hope to be getting good at spinning and I'm not sure I will want to use all my yarn/thread for weaving. Last night, i went to that evil place known as WalMart and picked up an "I Taught Myself to Knit" kit and some light sage colored yarn. I have currently knit 10 rows. Whee! Of course, it took me awhile to get it figured out, between the book that came with the kit and a wonderful website that has videos showing the various steps in knitting. The website is KnittingHelp.com and the videos are free!
So now I can cast-on and do the knit stitch. Next step - the purl stitch! hehehe
I don't know why I didn't ever start knitting earlier. It seems so easy (right at this point). I have an idea for a top that I want to make, but I think I have to get a bit better before I make it. It's fairly open and lacey looking, basically an over-tunic type of thing. Thing is, I'm not sure if it's knitted or crocheted. Either way, i will figure out how to make it. *grin*
Oh, and there is a .sig that I just fell in love with (yeah, I know, another one):
"Weavers get warped, spinners get a twist, knitters get loopy, crocheters get hooked, dulcimer players fret, but librarians get booked!"
My first thought when i read it was that it so described my Protege sister (SCA - Fiadnata) because she is a librarian who has managed to help me get addicted to fiber things. Yes, she spins, and weaves too. *grin*
Rowr, baby!
