Correctly sensing Cloud's confusion, Michael shook his head with that same soft expression. "There is naught to be sorry for, Cloud," he replied gently. "I suppose half of my ears were left back there, thus I heard you calling for me."

Dark eyes twinkled with a bit of mirth. "I have learned to be quite attentive to my name these days. My Father's messengers are needed more than ever."

He roused from his comfortable lean and placed a quiet hand on Cloud's shoulder. "Do not be downtrodden, my friend. 'tis what I was made for, after all." Well, that and a few other tasks, but this was no less important -nay, probably even more- than those other duties.

Oh, if Cloud only knew... He'd miss this bruised but stalwart soul, and then and there resolved to do whatever was necessary to keep this slice of time and space open as a haven, in case such was ever needed. He'd always come at Cloud's call. For as long as he was needed.

To the question, however, he nodded gently. "I will. My Father has plenty of work for me, and my brothers and I have tasks aplenty." Never mind his final task in far days to come - such wasn't important here, but was ever somewhere in the angel's mind.

Michael then gave Cloud's shoulder a gentle squeeze and dropped his hand. "I could ask the same of you, Cloud. Will you be all right?"
