OK, I complain about the customers that aren't so great, but here is one that was just lovely.
About a month ago, a lady came into the store and was looking at the quilt wall when I approached her and asked if I could help. She looked at me and said, "It's hopeless." So I sympathized and asked what she was looking for, showed her a few quilts based on the colours she wanted to coordinate with, and she like one of them, but she needed to think about it. Not unusual. She returned a week or so later and looked at the quilt again, but by this time, we were down to the last one. She wasn't sure whether the quilt would drape well on her bed. I told her to measure the bed (since she wasn't sure if it was a double or a queen), including the depth of the matress, gave her the measurements of the quilt, and told her to call us right away if she thought it would work, and I would package it up for her to pick up that afternoon. She did all of the above and bought the quilt that afternoon. Today, she came in to tell me that the quilt looked wonderful, it brightened up the room, and she thanked me, said I was very kind, called me a kindred spirit, and told me to carry bravely on. She was a dear.
Someone like that is more than just a customer. I'll remember her for a long time. She made my day.
