Trying to resurrect the old El Jay, so I added a few new friends. Hi, Friends!!
I've been journaling here for ten years, which seems like a lifetime ago. In the summer of 2001 I was living in Columbus, OH with my now ex-husband and was attending social work school. Soon after I started this journal we split up but continued to live together until the summer of 2002, when I graduated and moved into my own place. In the winter of 2001 I got back in touch with an old friend who became my good friend, then my girlfriend, then my partner, and then - when we moved to Massachusetts - my wife. Our tenth anniversary of partnership is just around the corner. My how time flies.
She came to Columbus in 2002 and we left for MA in 2004. Columbus was a great place and I met a group of people who would become my very best friends. I will never, ever have a gang like that again, I am sure of that. I miss it.
My Jennifer and I got married in 2005 at Boston City Hall, in the first year of legal marriage in the United States. We began trying to have a baby in February of 2006 and got lucky in October of that year, becoming pregnant with twins right before leaving Boston for the western part of the state. We lost one of the twins at 10w gestation and went on to have a healthy baby girl (Punk) in July of 2007 in a rural hippie hospital with an amazing midwife and doula with whom I stay connected on FB.
We bought our first house here in the Happy Valley, where I worked first as an Early Intervention Specialist (like I had in Boston for 3 years) and later as a therapist at a local trauma clinic. I left the trauma clinic for outpatient therapy with children and adolescents in an urban school district through an outreach program. I don't have the "status" of the trauma clinic (which is pretty well known) but I DO have a school schedule and summers off to be with the family. A week after I took this job change, in February of 2010, I became pregnant with our second child on our first try in a Hail Mary off my insurance from the trauma clinic. Our son (Tukey) was born in November of last year and is coming up on his first birthday.
As you can imagine, things are pretty busy around here with two active kids and two working moms, two cats and a dirty house in the burbs. I used to have time for endless posting, and that ship has sailed. Still, I miss chronicling my life here and keeping in touch with friends in a more expressive medium.
I've had the privilege of meeting a lot of amazing people via LiveJournal that I would never have met otherwise, including a published author, a single mama of three babies, and a lot of other people in between (including most of the city of Columbus). So, hello!
