So I know it's been a long time since I rapped at y'all, but i've been held up by a faulty computer.
My four month old, custom built, $2,200 Dell XPS laptop has been messing up. How does that make sense?
Anyways, it would work fine but then all of the sudden, the screen would get all psychadelic and matrixy and then it would shut off. Sometimes when I'd try to turn it back on, the screen would just be white for awhile before gradually "bleeding" down a bunch of weird colors. It was whack. Other times it would turn on and then immediately mess up again. ARGH. I spent tons of time trying to fix it and I thought I had it for awhile, but then it got really bad and wouldn't turn on at all so I called Dell. They are supposed to come either tomorrow or Saturday to install a new LCD (though I don't think that's the problem).
In the meantime, however, I reinstalled Windows and all of the associated drivers (I thought it was a display driver issue) and it seems to be fixed, but time will tell. I have to reinstall a lot of stuff yet, so I still might try to push for a whole new computer. We'll see.
Anyways, this past week was crazy. Being home was awesome, of course. I got to see my family and friends, got to snowboard, drink Yuengling, and generally have a good ole Western PA time. It went really fast, but that's ok. I'll be home again in 2 weeks.
When I got back to Vegas I had 110 dollars and two suitcases. I was the first one back so I had to call a taxi (30 bucks) to get back from the airport. I spent the first night just sitting in the room doing nothing.
The next day, Martin got back and we went to Fausto's (this AWESOME mexican grill) and then Sunset Station (the local casino). I ended up winning $100 at the casino playing Blackjack (AWESOME NIGHT!) and Tin won about $50.
The next day we went to Jack in the Box and then back to Sunset Station where I won about $50 and Martin $100. Wow! We rented Superbad, got some beer and watched it. After the movie and six beers (for me, not him), we drove to the strip to waste time before Amy came in. I won another 40 bucks but then lost it all plus 40 more (damn) and then we went and picked Amy up. Oh well.
The next day we went back to sunset where I lost about 30 bucks. Damn.
Oh, but the upside of it all is I took the Christmas tree back to Walmart, lied about a branch being broken, and recieved $32 store credit for it (even though it was only $29, the reciept had a box of bulbs on it that they didn't notice). I bought some Wild Turkey and some food with that!
On New Years we loaded up with drinks (flask full of Wild Turkey for me) and went down to the strip, which was PACKED. There were soooooooooo many people there. Overall I lost about 30 bucks but I didn't care so much since we were having fun. Martin and I were walking through the Venetian when Jay Z and Beyonce walked past, that was pretty cool. I got an ok picture of Beyonce, though I didn't have much time to take it. We went to Planet Hollywood for the New Years and it was seriously packed on hte streets for the countdown. There were 300,000 people on the strip and there was no room to move or walk at all, we were just packed in there. It was awesome though, we had a lot of fun.
Other than that, not much to report. This weekend we're either going to Zion National Park in Utah where we could possibly climb Angel's Landing or we're going to climb Charleston with snowshoes; both of which should be crazy adventures. I'll report in later!
Ciao.
