Perhaps someone can help me with this: is there anything out there tae look out for the children out here? Ah see there's a school an' all but what does it do when the lessons are over? The seasons are changin' and Ah dinnae like the idea of children being left alone without support. Ah've seen a couple children arrive without parents or siblings ( Read more... )

Well, that's good tae hear. Are they appointed or do they just take up a child out of their own sense of duty?

I think they just take them in because they want to.

Well it's nae so much fer the adults complainin' about unsupervised children as it for the children tae be raised right. If'n they're parents are nae here, Ah'm willing tae take responsibility fer the lot of'em.

There's a lot of different types of 'raised right'.

Certainly but it would nae hurt society tae see that a child is raised tae know right from wrong: That adults should look out for children and that they should have basic ethics and morals instilled as well as their teaching them academics.

Then why do you still speak like that if you know you speak funny?

[Anderson laughs some more and composes his thoughts properly]

Lad, as strange as Ah must sound to ye, ye'd sound very funny if ye came to where Ah'm froom.

It's often that the children get taken in by adults, as the others said. Don't worry, sir, we wouldn't allow them to fend for themselves. It just wouldn't be right!

It's good that people are doin' so. Ah'm hoping that the people who do take them in genuinely want children to care for. Ah'm used tae taking care o' the abandoned and the orphaned as a part o' mah ministry.

I don't believe anyone here is like that, but I'm sure they wouldn't be left alone too long.

Ah, you're part of a church too?

Aye, far too many young ones doin' that. Ah'd rather ye nae have had tae. Ye seem like ye could benefit from havin' a chance tae be free like a child again.
