Not close to me, no, but several acquaintances did.

My wedding day (Sept. 20).
08. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?
I finally finished growing up. I'll probably always look like a child, and I'll definitely always enjoy childish things, but I really am an adult now. For realz, yo. :P
09. What was/is your biggest failure(s)?
I failed completely at 1) going to grad school, 2) finding a good job, and 3) not moving back to Y-town. Blech.

Well, I'm pretty much always sick, but it's never serious.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Our wireless internet service plan! YAY!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Adam's. Geez, it's like his patience threshold is infinite. He's amazing.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
John McCain's. Wow, he wasn't the same guy he was in 2000, that's for sure.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Like Sonia said, savings and food. Oh, and rent, and bills, and Adam's tuition...
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My wedding! OMFG CAKE.

Adam. When I met him, I was a nervous wreck on medication. With him near me, I am a perfectly normal, fully-functioning person who does not even need to look twice at my old OCD pills. He's like a portable sanity inducer.

It's kind of a tie between Obama and Ellen. They're both awesome and hottttt.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Like Sonia, I say: gay marriage. I will dance at my sister's wedding whether bigots like it or not.
And hey, right-wing evangelicals: STOP PRETENDING TO BE CHRISTIANS. REAL CHRISTIANS DON'T PERSECUTE PEOPLE. REAL CHRISTIANS DON'T THINK THAT ADAM AND EVE WERE ACTUAL PEOPLE WHO RODE DINOSAURS. GET A GRIP AND STOP SPEAKING FOR THE ENTIRE CHRISTIAN POPULATION OF THE WORLD.
This has been a public service announcement from Philosophy Walker.

Hrm. I don't know. I guess I like Adam's friend/cousin Kyle?
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Crazy shit is gonna go down, whether I'm ready for it or not. Economies are gonna fumble, people are going to lose jobs, bills are gonna be late, food is gonna be expensive. You can't really prepare for a whole lot of the shit that'll happen to you, so just ride it out and don't freak.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Arrrrrgh I can't do this. Everything I'd pick would be too cheesy. Sorry.
Annnnd now: The first sentence of the first entry of each month:
January: Virginia was fun, seeing Leora was a pleasure, and the drive was a piece of cake.
February: I'm watching the SUPER BOWWWWWWWWL!
March: I hate that my teachers seem to view Spring Break as a time to catch up on homework.
April: The application for the Methodist seminary in Chicago was due way back in February.
May: I'd just like to put in a little plug here, and tell you that if you plan on voting in the VSA elections, you should totally vote for Maryrose Myrtetus for VSA President.
June: I lost my camera cord, and now I can't stop looking for it.
July: So for those of you who have been following Adam's Thesis Crisis: apparently the provost finally heard back from everyone he needed to hear back from, and he's having a meeting with Adam tomorrow after Adam's Spanish class to discuss a "timeline" with him, which I can only assume means that they've set a date for the hearing with the Academic Senate.
August: Today, a survey asked me to evaluate this statement: "I trust in the fundamental goodness of people to realize the threats we face, and to modify their behavior so that we find a way to overcome them."
September: I'm going to be married in thirteen days.
October: Looks like it'll be a lazy day today.
November: SO FUCKING STRESSED.
December: Adam and I are lying in bed; I am on my computer and Adam has been asleep beside me for about an hour.
