It is indeed a peaceful image, on itself. But with all the other details behind it, less. Mordec's Realm is solely for souls that have taken their own life, and are therefore not returning to the world like they would otherwise, since they have shown that their soul is too weak. They will lose every memory and stay forever under Mordec's care. (For all I know, Dahlia might be a very, very old soul by now, that lived way in the past, which I find an interesting thought).
There are great halls in his realm, with ceilings so high you think you can not see the end, where those souls dwell, forgotten. It is peaceful there, yet a earie kind of peaceful, I think. Because most of them somehow have a subconscious recollection of something that is missing, yet they do not know what. At least Dahlia had that, don't know about the rest exactly. I don't know that very much except what she knew. xD

Luckily, now that Dahlia is finished, I will be able to start doing shoots about that whole part of the story. It's where it all began, so that should prove pretty interesting!
But, what I wanted to tell (I deviated a bit xP) is that the veils have a lot of symbolism behind it. It not only represents the marital status, but also a haze, something that shuts them off from most that surrounds them, except what is closest.

I could talk about all of this for ages! xD
(Btw, I love that painting <3 And those figures are indeed very, very striking. Inspiration!!! <3)
