Reconnecting

Holidays are always a time for reconnecting with old friends. Or, in my case, wondering what's up with the friends I haven't reconnected with, and hoping I can get in touch while I'm in town.

I'm also finding it interesting how many kids I grew up with, like in church and all, that I just never had the friendship spark with, but am still wondering what they're up to. Weeell, my high school reunion in 2013 might take care of some of that. If I don't decide to go into the field, or something.

Can I just say that I am very disappointed with the American public that the third movie  in the abominable Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise is doing so well. My soul cries.

In other news, saw Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol with the parents, and it was AMAZING, which I wasn't quite expecting, even with the 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. I skipped the third one, so I wasn't sure if the events they were speaking of took place in number 3 or in between, but the whole movie was pretty much seamlessly done and really interesting, with some fun cheeky references to the past ones. Brad Bird, of The Incredibles, Up, and Ratatouille, directed, and J. J. Abrams helped produce, so it's not really surprising that it was awesome. It was also cool that all the equipment didn't always work, so the agents had to operate more on their wits than they've had to in the other movies. There was a great emotional throughline that really pulled you in with the characters, too. Also SIMON PEGG OWNS MY SOUL.

mission impossible, movie review, friends, i'm so crazy
