The week... month... year that would be strange
So as all of you that actually check my LJ know, I have been totally uninspired to write for a while now, prompting me to update my FF.net profile page with a notice of hiatus of my two ongoing stories. Then the Castle fic hit and I had a spike of activity but once I finished, I couldn't redirect the energy to either of my unfinished stories.
Besides that, work has been complicated - a push to do more and be more but without really any direction other than 'you can do more' and no indication that my doing more would really benefit me (i.e. any kind of promotion... the closest they came was stating that 'doing more' might be reflected in my annual review which could get me a higher raise - instead of 2.5% it could be 3%! oh joy!) but I am sure it would benefit my bosses a lot more. I have been reading fic, and in a variety of fandoms, just not writing anything.
Then today after what seemed like forever I got a spark and probably got out a good three pages and might be somewhere in the vicinity of being able to keep the momentum to finish the next chapter of Answering the Call. When it will be, I have no idea, but the fact that I was able to jump start so much of the chapter in one go makes me think at least this chapter's logjam is over. Beyond that, I make no guarantees.
I can only hope that the muse stays a while.
