Well, this week has been eventful to say the least. Things picked up in a hurry after spring break like I knew they would, and it's still been a little overwhelming.
Monday sucked. Kilgore drilled and drilled at us, and I just didn't care anymore. In tax, Fast let us know that we were gonna have an IN-CLASS test on Friday because people were cheating on the take-homes. When we get the take-homes, it's about 35 questions and we have about 2 weeks, usually, to do it. For the in-class test, the length is basically chopped in half, and we have 50 minutes there to do it (or come by her office on Monday and finish, which was what most of us ended up on track for). In seminar, the genius prof in there bitched about my group. If we were the worst group, that would've been fine, but we're freakin' secondout of six groups (including one computer team) in our section!!! What a moron... We definately didn't do the worst that round either, and I'll stop right there with that...
Tuesday was kinda just blah... AIS was uneventful as usual. I came home and took a nice, long nap, and worked on some auditing for the project that was due Friday.
Wednesday, things picked up a little. We delegated flowcharts (i.e. the root of all that is, was, and will ever be evil), narratives, segregation of duties, the whole nine to us all in my auditing group. We were so far behind because about 3 of us had tried to work on it as we went for most of the semester, and now the slackers decided they wanted to help now that the presentation was two days away... I swear, that pissed me off to no end, and I still get angry just thinking about it... The senior celebration was that day also. We just ran around to booths, and they made sure we had everything in line to graduate, got our cap and gown, voted for speakers (which I, unfortunately, am nominated for), did the ring and invitation thing, all that jazz... I'm scheduled to graduate Magna Cum Laude (with high honors). Hard to say how that'll hold up after this semester though. That's another thing that really gets to me about this "group" work. I got my 3.9 GPA on my own. Now, instead of letting the slackers suffer their own fate, they stick them with people like me, putting a real strain on things and dragging me down because they contribute next to nothing. How fair is that??? Yeah. Exactly... I "met" with my seminar group Wednesday. It was the same as the other meetings I have with them. I do it (to her credit, Michelle is there with whatever information I need) while the others sit there and watch. I know better than to ask them to do it anyway, I guess. They were left in charge of the practice rounds and that was a complete disaster, and I asked them if they wanted me to walk them through how to do it the round before spring break and they were just SHOCKED that I expected them to do something...*anger overflowing*... We had a financial structure statement due last round. One person actually volunteered to do it, and I was pleased! Then, he didn't do it, so we get no credit for it, and I was not so pleased. This week, a vision statement is due. Another person, upset that the other person didn't do what he said he would with the financial structure statement, volunteered to do this one and said she'd email it to me when she was done for approval. Said she "wanted to make sure it was done and done RIGHT"... Well, I get the email with the vision statement in it, and it's pure garbage. She could not have made it clearer to me that she has no earthly clue what is going on here. She doesn't know what the strategy for this group is, how the system works, ANYTHING!!!! God, help me, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease??
Now that one disaster had hit the fan, it was time to prepare for the other one in auditing on Thursday. I was in panic-mode for most of the day. I couldn't meet with them out there to actually put it together because they were gonna meet at 5 supposedly, and I would've had to wait a good 8 hours at best to meet. I came back here, did some stuff for that and advanced homework, and got bombarded with calls from nearly everyone in the group. No one was on the same page (surprise surprise). Skipping a few things, they ended up meeting around 8:15 to put it together.
Friday - When I looked at it the next morning, I was pretty disappointed with what we had. They did nothing I asked them to (again, surprise surprise). At least we had something, I guess. The other group's presentation was really really good, they thought almost everything through, had it separated, check, the whole nine plus a few. Out of the whole nine, I felt like we had about two or three at best. We still weren't done when we gave the presentation. Jabba did his part, so he says, but threw the piece of scrappaper he did the work on away. Great job, way to be on top of things... The presentation on our side was an utter trainwreck. We were running out of time in class, thankfully, so she didn't grill us too bad. We snuck out with our lives in tact... The in-class tax test was pretty challenging. I only lack about 3 more, and I feel pretty good about what I've got right now... After the test, a few of us went to eat at Mi Finca and relax, then I went to Wal-Mart to pick up Bryson a few things for his birthday today... I met with the career services woman at 3:30 to tweak my resume and talk about the job fair coming up in a couple weeks. She didn't really like the structure of my resume, so she redid that a bit... I didn't bother to tell her that SHE was the one who put it together in the first place though lol. I have to go buy a suit before the fair too, not a big surprise since I'd have had to get one anyway at some point. The thing I need right now is references. I'm gonna get my two profs, someone from the hospital, Mr. Boyd, and Mrs. Charles, I believe.
Today I've gotta do homework as usual, then head to the party this evening. Might run to the garage if I'm not too tired.
LOST this week was great! Henry is starting to ditch the innocent shtick and act like what we all really think he is haha. And that preview at the end about made my jaw hit the floor! Next week is gonna be the biggest episode yet!
The Bristol race is tomorrow. The Bristol races are the only races I'd watch even when I wasn't a fan at all haha. Excitement abounds!
I think that's a good enough entry... Catch you all later.
