And now I'll hype a movie that was great, but given very little press. The Burrowers!
It's a horror movie set in the Wild West. It's got characters with conflict and back stories, good camerawork, good foley, score & soundtrack, human villains as bad as the monsters, non-monster fear elements like body horror, isolation, claustrophobia, agoraphobia, rupophobia, and especially xenophobia, plus a great bleak Modernist ending.
The story feels like a Call of Cthulhu adventure (I wouldn't go so far as to say it feels like a Lovecraft short story), so I particularly endorse it for the Spikers.
