Yesterday was crazy! I got up at 0645 (I always try for 0600 but that doesn't usually happen). I got ready, spent more time on livejournal then on my homework (I think that's what's happening right now) and went to work. It didn't seem like it was going to be a bad day. I was supposed to do "planning" in my room but Kim knew nothing about that. There was yet another observer so I was observed for the 3rd time in 2 days. Pretty freakin' annoying. Then I took my class outside for a bit and got them ready for lunch while Kim was at her break. I went and broke Annie, then Heather (they're in the same room and both in the 2's program). Then at 1300 everything went crazy. JoAnn got on the intercom and said "attention staff" and cut out. She never does that. Vicki (a floater) came into the room and was practically screaming for us to get our doors and windows open. Then the fire alarm went off and Heather came running into the room from her lunch break. She hadn't even signed back in yet. I grabbed the emergency bag and the rings and Heather and Annie started waking kids up from their naps. It started pouring rain when we got outside. When we got to the front of the building the NSA police were asking us to go even faster. Valerie was being taken out by a couple of cops and staff members. She'd passed out and even though she was concious again, she didn't even know her own name. More cops kept coming. The ambulances and the firetrucks came. We took the kids to the lawn and used our emergency blankets to cover them. That wasn't enough, so JoAnn was running back and forth for infant blankets we never thought we'd use, and for garbage bags. I was close enough to the closet when we left that I had my purse, cell phone and keys. I ran to the car and grabbed the 2 blankets Jason and I had bought for the 4th of July. Then the cops started moving kids into their cars. Me, Heather, Jacquie and Annie all got in Jacquie's Sequoia before the buses came. There were four of them, and we sat there until the parents came. Annie and I felt dizzy so they made us talk to the firefighters. Annie stepped off the bus and felt better, but I stayed with some children until most of them had left. Then I started calling parents who hadn't been notified for whatever reason. An e-mail had gone out in the building saying that the a/c broke. It did, but Valerie didn't get sent to the hospital for that. She got sent to the hospital because there was a mix of chemicals from the a/c that shouldn't have mixed. Also, there was a chemical found in the building that's not even allowed on NSA property. So someone is getting in serious trouble. They sent me home at 330, but everyone went back in a little after 4. They had to put all the cots away and bleach everything. No one wanted to bleach anything, and they'd sent so many people home that there weren't a lot of people left to clean. I called Chaeri later and found this out, but she said we're open today. I doubt a lot of children will be in our center today. I need to get out at 4 because of my class tonight, and the midterm has been rescheduled for today, so hopefully there won't be any problems.
On a brighter note, my mom called yesterday and she and my aunt are coming down to MD for Thanksgiving, so that will be a lot of fun. They're looking forward to going to the PX on Black Friday, haha. Crazy military people, should be fun. My mom and Megan are coming down in August, though we still don't have an offer for our house on Ft. Meade even though we were supposed to yesterday. Jason called the lady and of course she didn't bother to call back. I'm trying not to get nervous, but we need to move the 18th through the 20th. If not we have to deal with crazy storage and maybe not having a place to live for a little while which is totally not fair. Craziness.
Also, today is my one year anniversary! I miss Jason and wish that he was here but the week is almost over. I always dread Wednesday's this semester because I'm always afraid I won't get out of work on time and I will have to rush to class, which I hate. The day is so long too. It'll be over before I know it, and then it'll be Thursday. I think I'm gonna go see the Harry Potter movie tomorrow, and I'm trying to figure out when I am going to get a little grocery shopping done... but I have to get ready for work now, so more later!
