Woooowww

Wowww, I just got on Livejournal for the first time in months lol, wow I totally spaced that I still had an account here even...

So yeah I guess I should give an update to everyone, that is if my journal is even looked at anymore haha.

The first semester at the Academy was to say much like a roller coaster haha. I had a lot of up and down moments, adjusting to the way of life here, dealing with being the shit of the earth just because I am a Freshmen there, and learning to cope with the stresses the academy gives you every second of the day. By the end of the semester I think I had surprised myself. I managed to do a lot of things that I never thought would happen and to say the least, I'm quite pleased about it all.
First off, I managed to get myself a 3.05 GPA. Now I know you all are probably like a 3??! That's it?! Well what many of you probably don't know is that the average GPA for the entire school is about a 2.9! Plus add on the military demands, extra things such as duty, mandatory lectures, games, blag blah blah.... I am very happy with my finish. After all up until finals, I was at a 2.7 so I managed to get up and save myself at the end of it all.

Crew, crew to say the least is the best thing that ever happened to me and is quite honestly the biggest thing keeping me at the academy still. I absolutely love it and enjoy every second I can down at the boathouse with my teammates. The guys I row with are some of the coolest people I have ever met and I know that in my time at the academy, they will be the ones I count and trust on. After all, no one else but them knows what kind of torture you go through everyday at crew practice haha. But no seriously, some of the guys have become my best friends in a short time and I am thrilled to see where our friendship goes in the next 3.5 years. More importantly, I can't wait for the spring season to start when we go up to Princeton in late March and start our campaign to destroy everyone in our league. I'm hoping that my recently healed broken foot and pulled muscles won't limit me too much and I'll be able to pick off where I left off before I got hurt in a few days (pushing our top guy enough to make his practice a little harder hehe)

In case you didn't know, I have a girlfriend now. She is probably the most incredible thing to ever happen to me and I hope that she and I stay together for a very long time. Her name is Stephanie Hanlon and thankfully she doesn't go to the Academy. I had a bad thing happen with a girl at the Academy so yeah... Anyway she lives pretty close to the academy, about 20 minutes, and goes to school up in Northern Maryland about an hour away. So I'm happy about that :) She's pretty awesome to say the least. She does Army ROTC, but wants to go Navy when she commissions ;) and she sings (which is how I met her though I still don't sing). She's a shortie (only 5'3) ha but I don't care. She is probably the most beautiful girl I have ever seen and I can never thank my good buddy enough at school who introduced us. We've only been offical for a few weeks, but I have a very good feeling that this will last a while. We seem to have everything in common, but have a few differences that we can both tolerate. We talk all the time and gahhh! it's just so great to have a girlfriend in my life, it's been way too long and I'm just glad to finally have her so I have someone I can trust and talk to when I hate the academy (which happens a lot haha)

Anyway, I'm sure you're all bored with that sappiness so I'll spare you.

I dunno what else to talk about really. I am really happy with my choice to come to the academy (as you can probably tell) I'm hoping to major in Oceanography or Ocean Engineering, but I won't decide till March.. I miss home very much and can't wait to come home again in the summer and see everyone again! Hope all is well and hopefully I can do a little better and maintaining this durn thing haha. Happy NEW year!
