So there was a small but nice comic con in dayton today so i decided to go. I get there pay my money and walk in....suddenly i'm looking at several vendors with boxes upon boxes of comics. I have not really bought, read, or collected comics in a few years so to be expected i felt very out of my element. I found a shady spot off to the side and checked out the guide. Looking to see who was there as a guest and such....the roster included: Billy Tan (Marvel comic artist since 2006, most of his work dealing with the Uncanny X-Men), Marv Wolfman (creator of the character Blade, Bullseye,Cyborg, the writer-creator of the New Teen Titans show on Cartoon Network, one time Editor-in-Chief of Marvel comics, Senior Editor of DC comics, and not well known writer of Ducktales), Dan Davis (artist of Samurai Jack, Batman, The Teen Titans, Scooby-Do, and many other DC projects), these were the most notable guest there but there were others. Oh and the guy who played Michael Myers in the original Halloween movie was there too!
So as for swag i got some great deals on some comics and bought a story arc that Billy Tan worked on and had him sign those issues. Marv Wolfman had script copies from Nighthawk and i bought one and had him sign it. Got my mom a personalized sign print from Dan Davis of Scooby-Do. All in all I had a blast and was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed after awhile cause i started to get back into my collector-comic-crazy-fixated mode that i haven't experienced in many years. So feeling satiated on things bought and done today i left before my checking account took anymore of a hit and resigned myself to Chili's for lunch.
