Title: Not Enough Is Sometimes OK
Rating: PG
Threesome: Aiba/Ohno/Nino
Aiba rubbed the sleep from his eyes and ventured a quick peek outside his window. It was only seven in the morning and he did not have to be up for an hour yet. Still, he was awake already and knew that if he went back to sleep he would be late. He snuck a socked foot out from underneath the blanket to check the temperature. After a few moments contemplation he decided that the cold was bearable, he stuck his arms out and languidly stretched and yawned the rest of the sleep away and shook himself awake.
He hoped he would not get into too much trouble if he turned up early, but decided that he would risk it anyway.
Aiba heard sounds of life as he walked up the stairs to the apartment. He smiled because the sounds were from the kitchen and that meant he might get breakfast. He stopped though and cocked his head to one side a little puzzled. They were angry ‘banging around in the kitchen’ sounds … maybe he did not want to be early after all. He took a deep breath and risked a knock on the front door.
“Door’s open!”
“Ahh Nino, good morning,” Aiba greeted his friend bright and cheerily.
“What’s,” slam, bang and shut, “so damn good,” the slight man huffed out, “about it?”
“Three and an half hours,” Nino ground out, “three and a bloody half hours of sleep is all he got.” He sighed exhaustedly, “and me not much more than that.”
“And no,” before Aiba could get a word in, “I did not play all night.”
“What time did he get in this time?” Aiba enquired
“Four … bloody A. Bloody M!” Nino pouted at Aiba.
Aiba was uncertain whether the grouse was actually about Riida being late OR about Nino not getting enough time with Riida. Whatever it was, Nino needed soothing and Aiba had dealt with grouchy animals before, although the species groucho ninomiyacus needed extra care in handling.
Aiba took Nino by the elbow, gently led him to the armchair in the living room and sat him down.
“Calm down Nino,” Aiba said softly chewing on his lower lip and stroking his friend’s arm soothingly. He was not quite sure what to do really but that usually worked on cats so it was worth a try. Aiba had another thought. “Hey can I get you anything? Have you had anything to drink or eat?”
“Mm no but,” Nino shook his head despondently and before Aiba could move away, a hand clutched at his, “Don’t go. Do not stop. ‘S nice that.”
“Okay,” Aiba complied and continued to stroke gently Nino’s arm. Aiba noticed how his arm was actually quite muscled. Not in the way Sho’s was. Aiba sighed, a happy sigh thinking of Sho. As Aiba continued his ministrations, he could feel the tension slowly leave Nino and watched as the eyelids fluttered and slowly shut. He gradually slowed and gentled the stroking to a stop and waited for a few brief moments. Nino had fallen asleep.
Aiba checked to see how they were doing for time. Their first shoot was together and was not until ten, but he could call either Jun or Sho and ask them to stall for a half hours grace. Aiba decided to check on Riida and see how he was.
He padded across the hall to the bedroom. He leaned against the doorframe and looked in. Ohno was all cuteness cuddled up in a comforter, his lithe suppleness showing through the baseball t-shirt he slept in. Aiba crept in and sat on the edge of the bed gently easing his weight down on it, as he did not want the creak of the bed to wake his beloved Riida.
For the second time that morning, Aiba was hit again by uncertainty and it was still only seven-forty five. Aiba yawned; he reckoned he could do with a quick power nap. He delved into the depths of his sweat-pants, set an alarm on his cell phone and put it on the bedside table. He then swung his lanky legs up the side of the bed and turned over to snuggle up to Ohno.
“Eh? Nino?” There was a questioning snuffle.
“Shh- go back to sleep,” Aiba reached over Ohno. “It’s me. Don’t worry Nino’s outside.”
“Aiba-kun,” Ohno murmured drowsily. “Ah…ok. Is he mad at me?”
“No,” Aiba whispered back, “Nino’s not mad at you.”
“That’s good.” Ohno sighed and breathed in deeply, happily reassured he fell back into his soft slumber.
Two minutes later Aiba was asleep too.
Bzzzzzt … bzzzzzt … bzzzzzt…
“What is that sound?” Aiba rubbed the sleep from his eyes and ventured a quick peek. “Aah!” He thought to himself, remembering. He stretched an arm to prevent his mobile phone from falling onto the floor from its vibration. He pushed up on his elbow and looked over. Ohno was next to him and sometime during the morning Nino had come back. OhMiya tangled up, entwined and so beautifully close together. Aiba almost did not have the heart to wake them. Well he would wake Ohno up first. Ohno can do the dirty job of waking Nino up. There was a smaller chance of retaliation then. Waking Nino up was a dangerous job.
“Very BIG danger.” Aiba nodded to himself. It was like waking a bear in the middle of hibernation. Nino did not actually sleep a lot. He seemed to survive on the least sleep of them all. When he did sleep, Nino slept deeply.
He shook Ohno on the shoulder. Who suddenly sat up, blinked several times in surprise and it was a few moments before he looked at Aiba as if only just realising his presence.
“Wh-what?”
“Wake him up.” Aiba pointed to Nino. “Please,” and gave Ohno his widest smile of apology.
Mutely, Ohno looked back at Aiba and pointed to Nino. Mutely Aiba nodded still smiling apologetically. Ohno sighed, shrugged his shoulders and pursed his lips.
“Nino,” Ohno enquired softly. “Nino, are you awake,” Ohno risked a prod in the middle of the back.
“No,” came from somewhere far away. “Don’t want to be up.”
Ohno turned back to Aiba, “I’d give him a few minutes and he will be ready.”
“Okay I’ll make some coffee and then we gotta go.”

The drive to the studios was about thirty minutes. He could hear Nino in the back muttering away about “sick leaders with bees in their bonnets” to himself under his breath. However, when he looked in the rear view mirror, Ohno was slumped on Nino’s shoulder. Riida was snoring and they were both smiling.
Aiba smiled and hummed happily to himself the rest of the way. All was right with the world.
