im finally home...it feels good to at least be in my own bed, since jet lag won't let me sleep in it haha. i got a cool phone yesterday, one of the new ones that turns to open.

i havn't uploaded any pictures off of my camera yet...i took 700+
bali was so much fun. my uncle's house was incredible. it had a shark pool on the inside that went under a wall and down waterfalls and stuff into the swimming pool. it was cool

and everything there was so cheap...you could get anything for under 5 dollars (including a really nice meal at a fancy restaurant).

since my aunt is balinese she gave us the whole cultural tour of the island...i didn't realize it but almost everyone on bali is indonesian hindu (which was suprising because its the largest populated muslim country in the world). it was some holy hindu celebration week wen we were there so we got all dressed up and went to my aunt's temple (we were the only white people there haha so we got some looks).

she also brought us to the cremation ceremony of a high priest who had just died. it was a big parade of people carrying the body, and at the end they put it in a huge bull statue and set it on fire...it was interesting. my aunt is really cool though...even though im assuming she's in a lower caste because she comes from a very poor mountain family, she told my cousins that she wanted to be cremated in a huge ceremony like that too haha.

i found out a lot of things about my aunt, which was nice because i didnt know much before. a long time ago she was the national indonesian dance champion, which is a big deal because dance is a huge part of their culture and religion. she said that's wen she realized that there was a world outside of bali (when she traveled around asia to dance). meanwhile my uncle gave up his job in the US to travel around the world for fun. when he got to bali, though, he ran completely out of money and had to get a job there, and i guess met my aunt and then they were married. haha it's a bit of a wierd story i guess

everyone who wanted a postcard should have gotten one by now. if not, you will soon because the australian post people sent some of them back to the house in sydney for some reason. o well
