Fast and Furious: Tokyo Revenge.
It's been a long time I know and I gotta stop annoying my buddy with these thoughts.
So this may be somewhat morbid to do with his death not too long ago but it's been bouncing in my brain since then but I think I know how to work around Paul Walkers character of Brian O'Connor in the next Fast and Furious film. Being that they used the after footage to bring in Jason Statham as the next baddie and he is seen to be the purported killer of Han you toss in a brief flash back to shortly before that scene where Jason Stathams character is seen killer the character of Brian O'Connor as well and him having a list and you see him check off the name and then be like 2 weeks later he's offing Han and then making the call to Dom (Vin Diesel), Bam then we cut to the end scene of Tokyo Drift, The race happens and then we move on to the real reason Dom is in Tokyo he breaks it down to Sean Boswell (Lucas Black) because of his Drift King status and his ties to the Yakuza he may have information on who killed Brian and Han. The movie moves on logically of hunting down Stathams character with the big action and racing like each movie before.
Now I know this is not a perfect solution, but it ties so many things together and makes his death easy to explain out in the film and gives good motivation to the characters of the series and makes it easier to move along with the timelines and maybe move onto other stories with the Tokyo Drift cast.
