Now see here son I've learned things
in my many, many years.
So sit down now and zip your mouth
and open up your ears.
Of all the gems of wisdom
I've picked up on my way,
this one is the purest,
so here now what I say.

Oh, oh, there's something you should know--
we're just making it up as we go.
And somehow, despite our ineptitude
we still get to watch you grow.
We mostly do what our parents did
for better or for worse;
I guess having clueless parents
is every child's curse.

I suppose I could deny it,
but I don't think that would work.
Instead of being clueless
I'd simply be a jerk.
And feeling quite unsettled
by your relentless smirk,
I'd slowly lose my balance
until I went berserk.
