You know what movie is totally about Rodney McKay? Possibly my favorite 80's movie of all time (although it's a dark horse in that competition - many people have never even seen it!)

Rodney is totally Mitch! He's smarter than his parents and he feels out of place! He gets recruited onto a secret military project at his high school science fair by Dr. Hathaway! (Played with evil genius by William Atherton). He goes to college when he is 15, and tries to conceal his LONELINESS and AWKWARDNESS by taking notes in classes that other people skip, and by tucking his shirt in too tightly.
He is obviously in LOVE with his scorchingly hot older, brilliant, roommate Chris Knight (played by Val Kilmer), who teases him by walking around in nothing but low slung boxer shorts and MAD eyeliner (Val gives Stargate!Kurt Russell a run for his money in the eyeliner department in this one.)
Mitch/Rodney is hopelessly dorky, but strangely alluring. Sherry Nugil, mysterious older woman played by Sexual Psycho Patti D'Arbanville, comes to Mitch's dorm room in the middle of the night to SEDUCE him with her wily older-woman ways, in pursuit of her life goal of sleeping with the most intelligent men in the world.
