Squirrel released

Mr. Squirrel has been released back into the wild. That is to say, the back yard. Last weekend we decided that he was old enough, and he seemed anxious to be out of the cage and climbing, so we actually transferred the little tube hammock that he had been sleeping in to the apricot tree outside my window. He seems to be going OK, but I still go out on the room and check on him - plus to give out treats in the form of walnuts and Cheerios.

The house is the house is the house. The latest addition to our ever growing entourage of contractors is a structural engineer who will work with our architect's plans to jack up part of the ground floor that's sagging, and come up with a plan to make the ceiling in the kitchen not sag so badly. That's next Tuesday - then, we wait for the bid from the contractor. We've pretty much decided to go with these guys for the whole ball O' wax - kitchen, stairs, and floor/ceiling leveling. The final decision on the stairs is that they're going back to where they were originally, and will be close to what was original to the house. Ours will probably be a little nicer - most likely oak, with nice big newels (sp?) and some matching wood accents, columns, etc in the new (and improved) hallway.
