MS Walk (you can be a virtual (or real) walker on my team (or you can donate money))

Feb 25, 2005 00:16

What it is: A three mile walk along Chicago's lakefront to benefit the Illinois Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Please join my team as a walker, a virtual walker, or a volunteer or make a donation.

Why I'm doing it: My father was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1985 and passed away in August of 1996. With each passing year, we get closer to having a cure for this disease, but a cure can't be found without your help. This walk benefits the National MS Society which funds programs, helps families with members that have MS and provides money for vital MS research.

One of the things my father did whle he was still healthy was act as a professional clown. He was one of the Founders of Kelly Klown Club in Chicago, an active member of Chicago Clown Guild and a circus performer with Carden International Circus. He loved children and was the type of man who would do anything he could to help someone in need. His clown name was Alphabet, hence my team name, Alphabet's Walkers.

I remember vividly when someone said at his funeral that he was such a physically large man due to his huge heart and needing a body large enough to hold it. Please join my team and walk with me or make a donation to help people with MS.

How you can help: On Sunday, May 1, I will join more than 13,000 walkers and volunteers across Illinois in the 2005 MS Walk. I'll be showing my support by fundraising for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the 18,000 Illinois families touched by multiple sclerosis. The money raised at the 2005 MS Walk supports programs, services and vital research into the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis. I've accepted the challenge to raise at least $500.00. Your support will help me reach that goal, which in turn will make a difference in the lives of 400,000 Americans living with multiple sclerosis. I hope you will join me either by walking along side me or making a donation to this goal to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

If you don't feel that you can walk three miles, you can always join the team as a virtual walker or a volunteer and help out at the walk. Please go to: http://events.msillinois.org/site/TR?px=1036138&pg=personal&fr_id=1050 to make a donation or join my team. You can join my team as a walker, a virtual walker, or a volunteer. Of course you are also welcome to just make a donation.
