Louden Swain Record Release Party Recap - By Prchrzdtr
Saturday night was the big night for Louden Swain! The release of Eskimo marks the bands 4th full length record release and the fans came out to Molly Malones in full force to show their support! The band hit the stage with the opening track to Eskimo, “Like the Heart Goes”. but, then continued on to play the entire Eskimo album from beginning to end! Usually the band set list consists of several fan favorites and requests, but, the band decided to celebrate the release of Eskimo not by playing just a few tracks mixed with those favorites, but, by showing the crowd exactly why we were all there! While this strategy is not one that can work for every album on the charts today, Eskimo is an album that begs to be played that way.
Every song on Eskimo is filled with so much heart and soul, that you feel it pouring out of each lyric, chord, bass line, and drum beat, every time you listen to it, and live it’s an even more amazing experience. The band powered through each song with the force of a wrecking ball and the crowd danced and sang right along! The band stopped only briefly between songs to remind us to buy the cd and to thank the audience for being there, not only to celebrate the release of the album, but also celebrate guitarist, Billy Moran’s birthday!
While the more fast-paced tunes like CA Nation, Mamma’s Jam, and Gamma Ray got the crowd pumped up, it was the more mid tempo ballads that really stood out for me. A lot of times the slower songs can bring down a show, but not this night. From the heart felt, “World’s Collide,” about friendship and how strong bonds remain, even after going separate ways, to the heart breaking “She Waits,” in which “he” is always leaving, and “she” is left behind to wait for his return, the guys in Louden Swain gave the crowd everything they had, and left them wanting more!
The band continues to grow with each new album and Saturday night they had never sounded tighter. From the opening chords of Like the Heart Goes to the last chords of Past Perfect, the band wowed the crowd and showed us how a real rock band should sound. The band is in the process of scheduling shows to take them all over the US as well as overseas and if you are lucky enough to be near anywhere they play do not pass up the opportunity to go, and be sure to stick around after and tell the guys what you thought, they are always courteous and take the time to talk with everyone and are more than willing to sign autograph’s or take pictures. Not only an amazing band but nice guys on top of it? Yes, you heard that right, they are genuinely nice guys.
The band is so incredibly proud of this album, and honestly, they should be.
Eskimo is available now on iTunes, as well as at LoudenSwain.com
I couldn't have said it better myself....The guys truly rock it :)
