Ninomiya & Sakurai Co-starring for the 1st time in a TBS seriesOn the 15th, it is known that ARASHI's Ninomiya Kazunari (23) and Sakurai Sho (25) will be co-starring in a drama series for the first time in TBS's "Yamada Tarou Monogatari" (Start in July, Friday 10pm). Ninomiya will play "Japan's Number One Popular High School Student" who attends a celebrity high school even though he is poor, and Sakurai's role is his friend. It is unprecedented for members in the same group under Johnny's Jimusho to co-star as the leading and supporting actors. This shows ARASHI's popularity.
ARASHI members at the peak of their popularity, such as succeeded in the Tokyo Dome performance, was again appointed to star in a drama series. Moreover, in the same drama, with Ninomiya as the lead actor and Sakurai as the 2nd (actor), the two who are in charge of the prince-charming character even in ARASHI are a 'powerful tag'. Ninomiya said, "If it's together with Sho-kun, I too will give my best." Sakurai too showed his enthusiasm, "When I heard about the co-starring, I was surprised the most myself. It's fresh, and I look forward to it greatly."
In Johnny's, KAT-TUN's Kamenashi and Tanaka appeared in last year's "Tatta Hitotsu no Koi"; however, they were main role and small role. It is unprecedented for two persons from the same group to stand side by side on the leading-role class. It is decided promptly the role of Yamada Tarou -the main character- goes to Ninomiya who is able to give the image of not-disagreeable-even-though-popular. It is said that when looking for the role of Mimura Takuya - his buddy and a cool scion, the one who exactly fits was Sakurai from the Keio Yochisha. The chief producer Setoguchi Katsuhi explained, "Because it's a casting that defies the conventional wisdom, it was an offer with no chance of success. It is an ultimate tag of unpredictability."
Certainly the compatibility of the two is perfect. Other than having singer activities as ARASHI, they work together such as in variety programme and the movie "Kiiroi Namida" which is released in theatre now; they know everything about each other. Even in their private life, Ninomiya gave Sakurai the TV game Wii as a present. They are on good terms to the extent that even in the drama ad photo shoot which was conducted several days ago, Sakurai who finished earlier went to peep at Ninomiya's shoot which was at a different time slot.
ARASHI working in the leading-role class in a drama series, following "Haikei, Chichiue-sama" (Ninomiya) & "Hana yori Dango 2 (Returns)" (Matsumoto Jun) in the January period and "Bambino!" (Matsumoto) in the April period, will be three seasons in succession. E.g., I am guessing by "tag" they mean something like "team"; they talked about Kama+Kouki versus Nino+Sho, both 助演 (joen) and 脇役 (wakiyaku) can be translated as supporting role, but wakiyaku is clearly insignificant; in the last paragraph the verb haru I translated it as "work" although online dictionary gives me a whole lot of other definitions; the very last sentence is a mess!
