Pop culture observations that make my head hurt....

So, I had a day off this week and ended up hanging out in my room watching some TV. I turned on Jerry Springer, which I'm almost positive is contributing to the downfall of the Western Civilization, and can't figure out what the crap is going on... seriously... are they told when to fight... this thing must be scripted right... seriously... the lame stories they come up with... how is this entertaining... do people really need that sort of ego-trip letting them know their life is so much better then someone else's?

The other thing I really can't grasp is this fascination with Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols... I will say, when I was in middle school I did listen to the whole old school punk rock genre (The Clash, The Ramones, & The Sex Pistols) but never got this whole worship of Sid Vicious... The dude was a bad bassist, a drug addict, and wore a Swastika armband when he played live. He probably couldn't hold down a job at McDonald's for more then a week. What gives? What makes him a pop culture icon?

I guess I just don't get things, and maybe, never will. But it would be nice to see a day where someone deserving became an icon. Lt. Jim Dangle maybe? =)
