I had an e-mail run-in with one of my coworkers today. We've always gotten along really well. So when we came to heads, things started being awkward in the hallway a little, and I started thinking: "man! why can't people handle being caught in the middle and just acknowledge discrepancies and not take things personally? Could you imagine coming home to your kids and then trying to describe how immature you are?"
Because, of course, I'm a bit jaded about how people handle any sort of relationship right now. But, my coworker stopped in, cleared the air very respectfully and we shared some banter. I knew I liked working with these people! Such a relief - it's like I really may not have to walk on glass all the time around people who are secretly holding things against me all the time.
Life is better when you can be wrong and when you can likewise forgive. I'm reaffirmed of that over and over again! Woot!
