After a weekend at home with my family, I got to hear some of the 'other side' of the politics. I consider myself to be someone who can understand either side, and have my own opinions which aren't based merely on 'they are so obviously ignorant.' I may not be informed on all issues, but I do know people, so I usually can find why someone would believe what they do. Well, unless they themselves have beliefs founded on 'I was told to believe, period.' There's no understanding being shallow.
But today I read that the Bush White House refuses to fund Shuttle trips to the ISS. Refuses to follow up on getting astronauts to the space station. Europe had agreements that we made with them! We provide transportation, they provide lab equipment, etc. Whether the deal was more costly than we planned or not - that's our honor as a country to follow through with what we say we'll do.
A government without integrity? If you can't find a way to pay for what we as a people have promised, then as a people we need to pay for that. You don't back out of a contract. No good business does that! No respectable person stays in deals only when it's good for them.
I guess our "ME ME ME" society has spawned a "ME ME ME" government. Very little in politics and the world make me really angry. But for some reason this does. Maybe it'd because I've had very little sleep from the bachelor party all weekend and I'm exhausted. But seriously.
Okay. time to finish drinking this yuckiness everyone in the world says is delicious (frappuccino) and hopefully wake up.
