I should have known. A few of our stakeholders feel that the name "ELViS" for the new visualization laboratory is frivolous. The dying blow came when one said to our president, "I hope the project is not as dead as Elvis." So, it is back to the brainstorming stage for finding a name for our new laboratory. It reminds me of the process it took for naming our own children. It is probably just a s well that we ended up rejecting Karin Bouletta or Diddley Doit (After the famous blues musician and my grandfather). Maybe it is just as well that ELViS has bit the dust.
But speaking of dust, I was asked on Monday to provide an executive presence on a faculty trip to Egypt next Wednesday to look at research needs and opportunities there. That sounded both worthwhile and fun, so I have cleared my calendar, found a reasonably priced ticket and am eager to go.
Now to clear my desk so I can leave with good conscience.
