Probe continues in burned Mercedes case
SPRINGFIELD - Police continue to probe the theft and burning of a $50,000 Mercedes from a downtown bar patron early Monday.
The 2006 CLS 500C Mercedes was found on blocks minus its wheels and engulfed in flames in back of a State Street seafood restaurant. Police said the car was stolen around 1:30 a.m. after its owner started the engine to warm it up and left it unattended.
The blaze caused $10,000 in damage to the Seven Seas restaurant, 858 State St. Police reports state the owner of the Mercedes is Stephanie Smith, 24, of Windsor Locks
