GDC week recap

We're up to the week of GDC now, which is always a lot of fun!

So of course the week's cover photo has to be from the show Monday as we start things up!

Every day (just like this Tuesday morning photo) we have a morning meeting to disseminate any updates to the CAs and to get the day started out with a little reminder of what's to come!

Wednesday's shot is from the lobby area where the VR Lounge was one of many, MANY components of the show that this year highlighted VR gear and technologies. The install base isn't there yet, but the development is exciting and people are itching to try it out and figure out how to make great games with it!

Thursday night was the recruiting event. Really party more than event, which was a little disappointing in some ways but wasn't too bad. It ended up being a decent time and hopefully some people made some useful connections.

The color of the shirts the CAs wore was unofficially dubbed "Mana Blue", and on Friday as the horde moved en masse to the bookstore to help close it down, the escalators became quite the sight!

It's a long week every year and a ton of work, but it's one of the most rewarding things I do since helping people get into the game industry and fulfill their dreams is really nice! But come Saturday, I'm dead tired so it's always nice to get back on the plane to come home!

Okay, Saturday bonus picture time: Ryan picked me up at the airport and we had planned to do dinner anyway, so he suggested the new menu at River Belle Terrace in Disneyland. So yeah, that's a "local" joint for dinner... only "problem" was that we got out of dinner just in time to get trapped in the parade and fireworks. I of course did the joke protest, but we really did leave right after so that I could crash.

After a super-busy week and a good night's sleep, driving out and grabbing a quiet lunch with my book was a great way to wind down from the activities!
