Five years ago

Where were you 5 years ago? I was attending college at Northern Michigan University. I had class at about 9:00am (eastern time) (spanish class). I woke up, turn on my computer and my friend sent me an instant message telling me to turn on the TV. I turned it on, and had no idea what I was looking at...it was a building, smoking, reporters saying an airplane collided with it. I had no idea what was really going on...I left went to class...still unsure of what was happening. We attempted to focus through Spanish class...my next class was Ethics. The teacher still when through with class, we still did not really know what was going on as there was no TV on in the lecture halls. At 11:00 I had American Government...our teacher walked in and told us to leave and that nothing she could teach us today would be more important than what was happening in the world right now...classes were then cancelled for the day...Everyone kind of walked around the University not knowing what to do...we took a ride out to the local airport to see if they needed any assistance as several planes were re-routed to Marquette since they did not want anything landing near the east coast. No help was needed...so we all went back to the TV to see what else was going on. I remember it clear as day. My family called to talk about it...it was almost surreal. I cannot imagine what it must have been like to live through that in NYC or have someone you know and love involved it the occurrences of 9-11. Keep the families and their lost ones in your thoughts and prayers today...and just remember.
