There were many contributions to western civilizatin from ancient Greece. They invited things that we use today, and many ideas and philosophies that we still carry in our head. Without ancient greek peoples efforts, we would not be so advanced as we are.
One contribution was all the many wise ideas and philosophies from great philosophers. One of the great philosophers was Aristotle. He was a student of Plato, another philosopher. What he contributed to western civilization was that the idea that our ability to think, and reason, was our best. Another important figure, but not necessarily a philosopher, was Pericles, as seen in document 3. He passed on the government of Democracy. Another important figure was Hippocrates. He was a very important doctor. He invited the Hippocrate oath in which doctors still take today.
Another big contribution was all of the architecture and art that greek people created and passed on to us. The greatest building in Greece is the Parthenon, as seen in document 7. It has great columns, and is symmetrical and has balance. We have carried on those characteristics into our architecture today. One of our most important buildings in the US, the White House, has colmns, and is very well balanced.
The thing from ancient Greece that has most been carried out into our modern world is the Olympics and fitness of the body, as seen in document 8. The Olympics happened every 4 years and contained a variety of sports. One of those sports was Discus. They felt that fitness and sports were dedications to the most powerful God, Zeus. The Olympics still happen to this day, and we value sports very much.
In conclusion , the people of ancient Greece have made many contributions to our modern society. Our civilization would not be the same without them.
