Summary-Doug tries to figure out how to tell Tom that he loves him.

“Hey Jude!” Doug sang out in tune (almost) to the Beatle’s song. Judy looked over and rolled her eyes.
“Yes McCartney?” she asked. “Or are you more of a Lennon?”
“Neither, I always thought of myself as a Ringo. Now listen, this is serious, I have to talk to you.”
Judy glanced over at the smaller officer who was talking to Ioki about the case they were working on. “Is this about Tom?” Doug nodded. “Are you breaking up with him?” she asked in a whisper.
“No. Just...come on, let’s talk in Blowfish’s room.” he told her in a quiet tone. He lightly pulled her to the small room. He didn’t see that Tom saw them in the corner of his eye.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
“Alright, what’s on your mind?” Judy asked him. She was a little on edge since this was where they talked about the time they spent the night together. Doug bit his lip and looked down.
“Have you ever been in love before?” he asked her honestly. Her eyes widened and she looked down as well.
“Is that what this is about? Are you in love with Tom?” she asked. Doug looked into her eyes and nodded. She looked back at him. “Is that a bad thing?”
“No, I just...I don’t know how to tell them.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
“That’s weird...” Tom said quietly.
“What is?” Ioki asked, stuffing chips in his mouth.
“Doug just went to Blowfish’s room with Judy.” he said, standing up to make sure they had really gone down there. “What the hell are they doing down there?”
“Jealoush mush?” Ioki questioned through a mouthful of salty fried potatoes.
“Hey, I have a right to be! There are only so many things you do alone with a chick in a janitor’s closet!”
Ioki swallowed the chips. “Actually, Blowfish prefers the term ‘maintenance engineer.’ And do you honestly think Doug is stupid enough to do something like that at work when you both are employed AT THE SAME PLACE?”
Tom groaned. “Doug’s mind gets extremely clouded when he’s horny, believe me.”
“I really didn’t need to know that...”
“Sorry.” he apologized half-heartedly.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
 “I can’t just tell him!”
“Why not?” Judy asked. “Tom’s blunt, he wouldn’t like any beating around the bush.”
“I don’t know, it just seems like he needs more than that.” Doug argued.
“Just telling someone that you love them IS a big thing Doug!” Judy really wanted to help him, but sometimes Doug just couldn’t see the answer when it was right in front of him. “You should know, you’ve had so many girlfriends!”
“Yeah, but I’ve never dropped the ‘L-bomb’ so to speak, much less really and truly felt that way about anyone before.” he said sheepishly.
“Wow.” Judy said as her eyes widened. “You’ve honestly never told anyone you loved them before? It seems like you would do so just to get a lady or a guy in the sack.”
“Yeah, well I never have. And contrary to what some people believe I’m not that shallow.” Doug said angrily.
“Well...why don’t you just tell him everything you just told me?” she asked. “Really, everything you just said proved to me that you love him.”
“I wish it was that simple...”
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
“Tom, this is stupid, you’re never gonna find out anything like that.” Ioki yelled. Tom was currently pressing his ear against the door of the janitor’s room.
“Shut up man, I’m trying to hear! Come on, help me!”
“This sucks man, this sucks...” he muttered under his breath as he pressed his head against the door as well. Surprisingly, after a second or two they heard Judy yelling.
“What’s so complicated? Just go up and tell him!” they could hear her yelling. Ioki gasped. He had to admit that really didn’t sound good. Tom’s eyes narrowed and he stopped breathing to keep tears from filling up his eyes. This couldn’t be happening, Doug was the love of his life, and now he was leaving him for Judy? And he thought that she was his friend...
“How awkward would that be?”
Then Tom got angry. His throat hurt from holding back tears and he kicked down the door. Judy immediately looked up but Doug was on a tangent.
“I mean, I’m just gonna walk up to him out of the blue and go ‘Hey Tom, you’re the absolute love of my life and I think that I would die if I couldn’t be with you, you’re one of those rare relationships where I can be totally myself around you AND you just happen to be sexy as hell, how rarely does that come along, and I would marry you in a second if it was legal!’ YEAH JUDY, HOW FUCKING STUPID WOULD I LOOK DOING THAT?” He looked up to find an open mouthed Judy, a very scared looking Ioki, and Tom who was sporting a look of surprise mixed with relief.
“Well, probably not as stupid as screaming out that stuff in a janitor’s closet in front of your boyfriend when you don’t even know he’s there.” Judy said in her best kindergarten teacher voice.
“Doug...was all that true?” Tom asked in a soft voice.
Doug’s cheeks turned blazing red, but he walked over to Tom and took his hand. “Yes.”
Ioki just looked down at them. “But you two came down here...and you were talking about ‘just tell him’ and we thought that you were making out or something...”
“What?” Judy squealed. “What kind of girl do you think I am?”
“Is that really what you thought?” Doug asked Tom. The younger officer nodded. “No, no baby, I would never do that to you. I love you, in case you didn’t just hear my outburst. I was just trying to figure out how to tell you.” A smile broke out on Tom’s face and he took Doug’s face in his hands.
“I think you just did.” He pressed their lips together in a sweet but passionate kiss. They heard the door slam behind them and they smiled. Tom attached their mouths together again and carefully slipped his tongue into Doug’s mouth. This was possibly the best make out session he had ever had because he was madly in love with the person he was with and he knew that he loved him back.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
“What the hell just happened?” Ioki asked Judy when they walked out on the two men.
“Love just happened my friend.” she stated.
“Love is scarier than I thought.”
