Title: Unaffected
Author: Me
Rating: G
Characters: J/E
A/N: Response to blackpearlsails prompt: Threat.
Disclaimer: I don't own. Sorry.

A/N 2: Sorry I missed last weeks prompt. Wasn't much in the mood. Also, sorry if this switches tenses. I'm a bit tired. Also, this is a continuation from the last drabble I did, What's In A Name?

Unaffected:
She has threatened him with everything she can think of. Burning the rum, moving into the spare quarters, even going so far as to say she'd leave at the next port they'd stop in, but he still doesn't say anything. He only looks at her with dark, burning eyes that are the color of the midnight sky, beautiful orbs that are absolutely gleaming with amusement. After a moment he leans back a little, grins, and then turns on his heel and walks away, not believing her for a second.

He is right not to believe her, though. Frustrated, she knows she will not leave him, or do something as foolish to burn the rum, yet knowing such is not what makes her upset. It's the fact that he can see right through her perfectly clever threats that leaves her bristling, watching his smug swagger as he walks away before she turns around, going to plot in the cellar with a bottle of rum clutched tight in her hands.

She has lost her touch. Perhaps when they had first decided to stay together he'd have believed her every word, gotten angry with her seriously whispered threats and promises to hurt him, but not now. They'd been together so long that he was no longer affected by anything that she could do or say.

Some Pirate King you are, Elizabeth Swann, unable to force your subjects to bend to your will. She'd broken him such a long time ago, and yet in saving him she'd not only helped to piece him back together, but made him absolutely untouchable. It was at times like these that she wished she'd never helped to build him up so high, make him so strong. Not being able to ruffle him, their games only now being one-sided with him nagging her...she missed how they used to be.

"That is it, Sparrow." she whispers aloud, shaking her head. "I will drag this information from you if it is the last thing I do, I promise you that."

After all, she recalls with a sly smile and a swig of rum, there are other ways to persuade a person than by mere threats.
