Review of Saga of the Swamp Thing, Book One

I wanted to hate this book.

For years, all you keep hearing about is how great Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing was.  How he took the title, and in effect comics in general, in a much darker direction.  Even a more adult direction.  I blew that off as hooey.  It can't be THAT good.

Damn it all, it is!

First off - Jason Todd coming back is HELLA geigh. The Bucky return - seriously, The Winter Soldier series by Ed Brubaker was really brilliant. I like Brubaker a lot. What he is doing with Cap and Daredevil is really awesome - if not for Blackest Night, I would put his writing on top.

Totally agree with the Flash coming back - speed force? GEIGH

Killing Aqualad, Hawkman, Hawkgirl and making them black lanterns = fucking awesome.

The Batman & Robin new series by Morrison is so far interesting too - again, there's the whole geigh Jason Todd as the Red Hood - but I like the dynamic that Morrison is creating with Damian and Grayson. I really love what they are doing with Detective - and having Spoiler as the new Batgirl is interesting.

I know that you and I grew up in respective camps of comicdom. Right now, I have to concede that the DC books are better written - although Dark Horse has some real sleepers like BPRD and Hellboy that are brilliant.

That being said - read Brubaker's stuff before you hate on Bucky. The Winter Soldier was one of the best arcs I have read in awhile on the Marvel Side.

I did not know that. In Countdown to the Final Crisis, it's Jason Todd from one of the alternate Earths. I thought Tim was just regular Robin. Mind you, I'm like 2 years behind on my DC reading, at least 2 years.

That said, thanks for spoiling that they killed Tempest/Aqualad!

And I thought Spoiler was dead, the Asian girl was Batgirl, the Hawks were ALIVE (thanks for another spoiler!)... it's all changing too much!

Oh, and get the cock out of your ass and COME TO THE SHOW ON SATURDAY! Don't claim finances either, if you can afford to see concerts from bands you've seen hundreds of times anyway, you can go to a comic show and spend some $ there! Hell, I'll buy you lunch!
