Once again, the United Nations is USELESS, and negotiating is POINTLESS!
Force is the only thing some folks understand, and I wish SOME country wouldn't be full of pussies and help out Georgia.
But none will, and very soon, the USSR will be back.
Fucking useless UN and Europe.

Being that Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia are three breakaway republics in the oil rich Caucasus region - Russia has a lot of reasons to get involved. Reason one - the disruption of oil piplines going through the disputed areas in Georgia that are benefiting the west and not Russia, two - keeping a strong presence in the area serves as a counterweight to Azerbaijan's pipeline from Baku going west - again, bypassing Russia. This is embarrassing to Russia and furthermore Georgia has a long and bloody connection with Russia - it's the home of Stalin, there have been more than a few seperatist movements that have been brutally put down. Georgia being independent is especially a sore point for them. Now, I agree that Russia shouldn't have invaded, but the Georgians did start this.
Quebec - this is a terrible analogy, since Quebec has consistently had referendums on independence and everytime the issue of seperation comes up, the margin by which the Quebecois choose to stay with the federation of Canada is greater. While it was originally part of New France, it has effectively been Canadian since the late 18th century. There has not been a serious mandate to the Canadian Parliament to withdraw since I believe, 1997. The United States has also never had anything to do with it; rightly so, because all French speaking people are retarded.
Abkhazia and South Ossetia are not ethnic Georgians. South Ossetia is actually in a mountain valley and the region was unwillingly split into north and south Ossetia when Georgia declared it's independence. There is a tunnel connecting the two regions, but these people never wished to be consolidated with the breakaway republic.
