I have a JRT the same age as the one you have there. I take him to play with my grandmother's Golden Ret. on a regular basis, the behavior you decribe fits mine too. I find that now that he is more used to the other dog he hardly does any of those things unless they are playing, and it isn't nearly as bad. Now the two will just lay with eachother in perfect peace, it's pretty sweet actually.

Thats why we keep our dogs in two's so they always have fr einds and know how to be around other dogs, so my jack russell is still a pup not nearly as old but shes constantly around other dogs, right now her best freind is an 11 year old sheltie and a 1 year old chow/lab mix she likes to sleep on there backs while they sleep, its cute, I always like to keep all my pets around another one like i always have two cats, you never know if someone may have to watch yur lil one for you wihle u go out of town at there place with there dogs or if something comes up and you just can't sadly keep em anymore, if they are allowed to interact well with others its always a plus for them in there life.
but hes sooo cute lol that lil scrunched up face!
