They're cleaning their guns in the cube next to the pregnant lady again.  Snorty man may be annoying, but I can handle him - even if he has a cold this week.  Cleaning guns four feet away from me, however, is not a sound I feel that I can handle without considerable trepidation.  Especially not after someone was just warned out of that cubicle - " ( Read more... )

Pregnant or not, the lady should let the guys know that, seriously, cleaning a gun in one's cubicle may not be a good idea. I suspect they do remove the bullets etc but, what about the one in the chamber?

Psssssst!

Now is your chance to waive the "Pregnant lady is sensitive to bad smells" ticket. That will most certainly obtain some sympathy resulting in action. Gun oil smells HORRIBLE. I'm amazed the smell alone hasn't made you nauseous.

And even then, the whole aspect of you being concerned for your (and the baby's) safety in the workplace is truly an HR concern. Have you talked to HR?

No, I haven't. I definitely feel like I would need to talk with the cops themselves first. I've learned that yes, it takes more guts, but it's much more respectable in the end than taking it to somebody else in the company to deal with. If they don't respond, then sure, I'd take it to HR. I guess.

Of course, the fact that it requires guts (and, fundamentally, confronting someone holding a gun), I may just pass on it. Really, it doesn't happen very often, and I was able to remove myself from the situation. They're real cops - if anybody knows what they're doing with the godawful things, it's them, right?
