Adventures in Consumerism.

I don't know how, but I've had some spare change recently.

I only heard of Thirty-One like, two months ago, but yeah, I dropped two C-notes there since then. Which is more than I've spent on purses/wallets/storage in many a year.

As an aside: I just realized my M and N keys are reversed. I'm assuming I was drunk when I last cleaned my keyboard. I'm reallllly not on my laptop that much any more (Kindle Fire FTW), so SURPRISE.

I've yet to go to a party, but an admin in our company is a consultant, so I ordered this purse, got it on Thursday, and OMG I LOVE IT. It's Mary Poppins like in its depths. I always switch between shoulder and handbags. I fall in love with handbags, and then remember that I hate holding on to things so then I shove it up to my armpit, and it looks stupid. My previous handbag purse also fit a lot of crap. I still have a plastic Easter egg in my old bag. This one has it beat, though. Two outside open pockets and one zipped. Two wide pockets on the inside, and another zippered pocket on the inside. On top of all of the, you know, regular space inside the purse. I got a matching wallet, too, so I could take advantage of the June special.

The company has a different deal each month (that's how they get you back, yo) and June's was 70% off one specific item for each $35 you spend. (This for $10 instead of $35.) Sooooo, I got two of those, too.

THEN a coworker told me she has a friend on Facebook who sells last season's stuff for half price. AND there was an outlet sale this weekend. Oh, the money. Reminds me of when I was like, eight, and spent all my money buying a new wallet, leaving me with nothing to put in said wallet. :-P MORE PRETTY AND FUNCTIONAL STUFF ZOMGGGGG.

I'm not interested in Scentsy, or Partylite, or any other of a hundred at home businesses, but this stuff, and Tastefully Simple? I love stuff I can USE, stuff I need anyway.

I also needed to upgrade my Kindle Fire case. The one I've been using (bought it before I bought the Kindle, actually) was a Black Friday deal that just fit any 7" tablet. You strapped the thing in and kept it in place. It was fine, but I found a $10 deal for a specially designed case. I got another of similar design, too. That's right, I now have more than one purse, more than one wallet, and more than one tablet case. This is all new to me, I usually use stuff till it's used out. I can swap shit out at my leisure and dependent on my mood!

The new case is so much slimmer, and the fit is almost perfect. Like, 98% perfect. However, I realized I'd been using my Kindle upside down since I got it. *facepalm* The Kindle goes into the case a specific way, and the way I had my screen locked meant it was opening from the left, like paging backwards through a book. Turns out the power button and the headphone jack goes on the bottom. Huh! Now I know.

Also, the new case? Fits perfectly inside the new purse. LOVE IT.

I also bought VIP tickets for Jim Gaffigan in Duluth this Friday. Pit seats, a meet and greet/photo op afterwards, and a few autographed items. My sister does not have the spare scratch, but I said I'd pay for some of her ticket and take some of the items off her hands. In addition, it's Tall Ships, which is one of Duluth's biggest summer events soooo, yeah. Hotel rooms are pricey, parking is non-existent. We'll be leaving STC early-ass in the morning, coming back that night, and can just hold our breath for parking and hope for the best. I usually have parking karma on my side so I'm not too worried.

Work is work. My boss is going on vacay next month and wants me to create his production schedules, instead of just executing them. Terrifying. The project I spent a ton of time on last year after I got my kitten is starting up again. My boss sent me an email on Thursday at 9:30am titled just, "Guess what time of the year it is????????" I replied when I came in at 12:30, saying "...Comic-Con?" Him: "Noooooooooooo, much more fun." "You've started drinking on the job?" "If that hasn't happened yet, it's not likely to." Hee. (The excess punctuation and letters are accurate to the discussion.) I posited that Comic-Con is still more fun, but he countered with this being more lucrative (I'm sure his point was for me, but moreso for the company, so.)

Last year I was limited by the call center closing at midnight, but now we're 24 hours, and the project can be called from 7:30p-9a. Unlimited overtime is scary, because I'll go for it. I'll have 19 hours on this upcoming check, and that's BEFORE the project starts. Thank goodness I already took off Friday.

financially prudent (ha ha ha), work, life
