"How can you read this? There's no pictures!"

Story 1: I sent out a mass email at work for something work-related, and I get a reply from my Ex-Supe, asking "When does the next Harry Potter movie come out?" I reply mid-July, sometime. Right before Comic-Con. He then reveals that he hasn't read any of the books, as he's not really into reading so he doesn't know what's going to happen in the last movie. I link him to my folder of UK audiobooks and say they're good fun, warning him he needs to be prepared for "pitch" instead of "field", "lift" instead of "elevator", and the silent u's that he can't hear but they're totally there.

He says "Thanks, I can listen to this while I'm on the computer! Who knows, maybe it'll get me into reading." I reply, "Hey, if it works for seven year olds..." He then said he was too old to change his ways (he's early 40s at the MOST) and I quoted Dorothy Parker's thoughts on age at him.

("People ought to be one of two things, young or old. No; what’s the use of fooling? People ought to be one of two things: young or dead.")

Story 2: Cheryl and I went to pick up lunch and had to wait a bit for our food. It was a casual day, and I was wearing this shirt. She asks me what that means, so I explain that the T. rex and stegosaurus had worked together to conquer "this land", and then the T. rex turns on the stegosaurus and says they will make it his grave and the stego was disappointed, but not surprised. Cheryl's eyes got bigger and bigger as I tell her the story. I belatedly tack on "...it's from a TV show" at the end. She was very relieved.
