Hey look, it's a middle of the night LJ post. What could this possibly be about?
So I've come to terms with the fact that Ron and Hermione end up together in the book. But I think I can wish away my fervent desire for the movies to veer from canon enough for Movie Ron to DIAF. Even though this movie actually contained AF that I like to think was conceived just for Ron to DI, but still no luck. Darn that Rowling.
And then at the end when Hermione says, "Harry, you can't do this without us!" Seriously, WTF does he need Ron for? To be pissy and undermining and then leave in a huff? AUGH! Just take Hermione on your quest and fall in love leave Ron to his wits.
Uh...heh. Best of luck, there, Ron.
Some of the cuts baffled me, per usual. (See also POA: WHY DOES SIRIUS BELIEVE SO IN THE MAP'S INFALLIBILITY?!?!!) Harry doesn't know what he's looking for! He never even saw Slytherin's locket, I didn't see a coat of arms on the ring, and I really loved that he had touched Ravenclaw's diadem in book 6 without knowing what it was. He didn't even get to be happy with Ginny. :(
I did appreciate the shoehorning in of Bellatrix where ever possible; there's no bad there when the adult actors are featured. And there was definitely enough smoldering stares to keep slashers happy. I LOVED that Harry let Snape stop him when he was about to curse Draco (that will stay with the lad), and the Inferi were so much worse when you saw them underwater. I could picture with a fair amount of horror that happening to Regulus.
Just...Ron was poisoned (twice, actually, in the span of ten minutes) and took multiple Quaffles to the head. I only want one little thing!
Did anyone else's audience laugh hysterically when Ron collapsed, btw? It wasn't even me that started it!
In conclusion: Dear Ron,
Lots of love,
Joy
Must...see...again.
