employment!

Today I went down to Brooklyn to meet the woman from the school I was trying to get a job in as a teacher aide for the summer. I met her. She seemed very nice - and she apparently liked me. :-) I have the job! I start working July 2 and I finish August 10. It's just the summer program, but when we did the pay scale form, she also handed me one of the teacher pay scale forms "just for my reference" in case I come back as a teacher. wink wink. So, I'm definitely a happy camper. The only annoying part is that it's all the way down in Brooklyn. Although, I thought I had class at 4:15 then, but it looks liek that's only now, and classes will be later in the evening then, so at least I might be able to still take the subway - I don't want to deal with traffic. If I'm going to have a long commute, I at least don't want traffic to be my problem. But, so today I celebrated by stopping on the way back to the subway in a Russian deli (it is Brooklyn after all) and bought myself a little thing of beet salad. The people in the deli could obviously tell I was American, and coudln't quite figure out why I was talking to them in Russian. I was amused. But I am happy. Classes start again tonigth, but tonight is the Language Development class, and it is with a professor who is actually known, so I am hopeful. Cross fingers!
