a quick update

It's been a while, and much has happened. I've been so busy I haven't had time to write - I still don't, but oh well. The term is technically over, but because ofassessment, I don't have a break. So during my supposed one week break, I'm writing a psychoed eval. I did, however, go judge in Baltimore this weekend, and I didn't ring my computer, so that was my vacation. It was fun. it's always a fun competition. This weekend was not particularly quotable, but it was very memorable, I learned to do DO and Video stuff for the new judging system, which was cool. I got to ref the new judging system, which was rather essential, and my first experience with that I had to RJ (ref and judge simultaneously) the new judging system. Since we were using the computer system it made things difficult, and I had to straddle two computers, put marks in one, and time the program, and note which element marked the halfway point in the program (everything after the midpoint gets bonus points now). It was stressful, but I got into a groove, and thankfully no situations arose. Later I thought I was going to have a lesson in how to call an ambluance because someone smacked into the wall and almost fell in a split (a guy), but thankfully he was ok, and kept going. Somehow this weekend AB (a judge who I adore, who is like 6'3") and I were trying to do pairs lifts in the hallway outside the judges room. People were laughing at us. There were some skaters there who were like wtf, and then they started trying to pick each other up. Then he couldn't quite get me in the air, and I came down and ended up straddling him - that was special. Debbie (the weird passive aggressive one) laughed at us - although later she cornered me - literally backed me into a corner and asked if I was STILL comin to Liberty, and I was like ummm personal space honey personal space - and yes, Im coming to Liberty. I think she was trying to help me, since she asked if I had brought a copy of my referee exam and when I said no, she was like oh, I meant to but I left it on my desk at home. (When I told Taff about this she was like ummm thank god for small favors?) It was weird. But later, I ended up doing lifts with Jordan and then Jacques (both of whom were pairs skaters for a while - Jordan is a judge, Jacques is an old friend who lives and teaches down there now, but I knew him when I lived in Schenectady when I was a kid - we skated together. Apparently people in the hotel were staring at us. Someone mentioned later that people looked mortified at the way the guys were touching me (my waist and my rear end), but such is the nature of pairs skating - not even something we think about. LoL. But it must have looked amusing. As someone else said, "no part of the body is off limits in pairs - you sort of lose your inhibitions". Jordan/Jacques and I have jokingly decided we should do adult pairs. I stayed in the judges room until 230am on Saturday night. Some stayed until 430, but let me tell you, when that alarm went off at 630 I thought I was going to die. All in all, it was a weekend full of laughter, full of fun, and good experience. I think I learned more from this competition than I have a competition in a long time. But to summarize the weekend "if it was dirty, it was said". LoL
