I ADORE this. I love flirtatious Neal and Peter keeping his armor up. "Grounding" him makes sense, and Peter being concerned that if he lets Neal in too close, Elle will be hurt when something goes wrong. This all has such a real feel to it. I love your take on the characters. Wonderful.

Thank you! I'm glad the grounding bit seemed plausible. Tim DeKay said in an interview that the relationship between Peter and Neal was part father-son, part siblings, and part old-married-couple, lol. I was trying to include a bit of all three. :)

Thank you! I love the chemistry between Neal, Peter and Elizabeth, so I'm glad the 'fit' worked in this story. I'm contemplating a sequel--we'll see!

I liked this a lot.

Peter telling Neal that if he lands back in prison he'll still *see* them but it's not going to hurt just him made me go aww...

I also liked their offer of a home when Neal wants/needs that. And that they let him in on the infertility struggle--because that's a big thing.

Thank you! I'm glady you liked the way Peter confided in Neal about the infertility. I hope we see Peter and Neal confiding more and more in each other in the series. (Ok, I know we need tension, but still . . .)

That had a lovely flow to it. I liked the continuity of Neal attempting to press Peter's buttons and test the limits of his comfort zone throughout. Peter's thoughts on what would happen and who neal'd hurt if he went back to prison were decidedly spot on. Peter's easily getting used to having Neal around, but so is Elizabeth. The whole 'office spouse' thing really worked beautifully.
I enjoyed this fic immensely!

What a lovely review--thank you so much! I think Peter will be devastated if Neal goes back to prison; Elizabeth would have to pull herself together, I bet, just to comfort him. (But hopefully we'll never find out in canon . . .)
